They're HERE!!!!

Last week we saw the official launch of the NIKE NFL Game and Elite jerseys.  You can check out various outlets for the jerseys but either Nike.com or Nflshop.com are probably your best bet.

I saw the game jerseys on display at the NFL pop up shop in NYC and they are nice.  They are quite different from what you would expect in a replica jersey.  There is little mesh used on the jersey as the primary material is more of a polyester microfiber makeup.  The screen printing looks to be miles ahead of what Reebok was doing - very heavy print almost like the authentic jerseys of the 80's.  My primary concern with the Game (replica) jersey is how that body material holds up to washing.  I have had issues with some of these type fabrics from Nike really "pilling" up after laundering.

I have yet to see the Elite (authentic) version in person but my Chargers jersey is on order so I will try to do an in depth piece on that once it arrives.

Kickin it Old School Brooklyn Style

The Nets are now officially branded as the Brooklyn Nets and they have gone OLD SCHOOL COOL with the new logo. Wow, this is the best new look I have seen from a Pro Sports franchise in I don't know how long. Leave it to a style expert like Jay Z to knock it right out of the park with the new look. Props Jay...... And thank you. Get on over to Fans Edge to check out the new apparel. Bad news, most of what I saw is pre order and can't ship until mid May. Damn. I need a Brooklyn Nets tee right now.

Tigers will be dressed for success

Tigers will be dressed for success

This is a great read. As I have been saying for years, the trend of changing uniforms and different looks at the college level is all about the kids, the recruits. It makes a difference. Kids want the flashy looks, they want to be involved with the design. Sorry Mr and Mrs fifty year old alumni... We love you but get over your fondness for the old school and realize recruiting is the life blood keeping the checks rolling. Buy a new jersey.

Custom Nike NFL Dunks

The Swoosh is killing me right now. As one website mentioned they have done more with the NFL license and its marketing the past two days then Reebok and Adidas did in the last ten years.

Check out Nike ID on Facebook and custom design yourself a pair of Dunks that represent your team. Keep in mind this is just a Facebook application right now and you'll have to wait until the product goes live on Nike ID.

Have fun junior footwear designers!!!

Nike NFL Uniforms - Video

The Seahawks website has a few nice video pieces on the NFL uniforms. My fave is the How we Work segment. Check it out if this Nike NFL hype machine has affected you as much as it has me.

New Day Dawning

Well the day that some have been anticipating (while some dreading) has officially arrived. Nike has revealed all the NFL uniforms for 2012. Design wise everything looks pretty status quo except for the Seahawks who got some major reconstructive surgery.

On the fabric side of things I can't wait to see the new Elite jersey in person. The Elite jersey is the actual on field jersey that the players will wear. Nike.com is going to be pre-selling the jerseys and the Elite is priced at $250 ..... not bad considering the Reebok jerseys have been $300+ for the past few years and their quality was below average at best (I'm being kind).
